 I
was born in 1960 to a eurasian father & baba mother at
home in the Tampines of old. The ‘village’ mid-wife
delivered me, the first of two sons in a family of four
children. We were very poor then. The kitchen, living
room & bedroom occupied the one & only room, which
afforded little shelter when the monsoon rains came.
As
children we found pleasure in the simple things, like
playing catey, catching spiders, sharing the joy of an
ice-ball and catching guppies in the big drains & muddy
ponds after the rain.
School at Raffles Institution was fun and revolved
around water-polo & navigating the dark alleys of
Orchard Road. Life was good as a teenager. Alas! all too
soon, I was thrust into the working class, the real
world where bread & butter issues mattered.
I
landed my first job in 1978 with the Singapore Navy.
Their slogan ‘Join the Navy & See the World’ appealed to
my youth & sense of adventure. It was a spontaneous
decision and the Navy became responsible for molding my
character into becoming an officer and a gentleman. I
sailed to many exotic lands, in the east from Indonesia,
to Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand & Guam. I braved the
high seas to the west when I sailed to India, Djibouti &
Sudan, just short of Egypt.16 wonderful years passed all
too soon. My new found freedom as a civilian in 1993 saw
me being involved in many business ventures. I became a
top real estate agent in S’pore, joined ventured with a
friend and set up the Phuket Sport Fishing Centre,
bought 2 kelongs at Bintan & became the first Asian
Marine Test Pilot working with several shipyards to
serve the Police Coast Guard, Customs & Commandos. But
my biggest & most memorable venture was my very own
Nautical School, named Captain Francis Log. I made my
first million there and thousands of acquaintances, but
the fairy tale ended abruptly when the MPA shut me down
citing new government policies in 1998.
So
here I am 45 years later, half-way through my life’s
journey, living a life I never dreamed of and working a
business I never wanted, but loving every moment of it.
Neither my friends nor I would have guessed that I would
land a career with Network Marketing, promoting Health,
Wealth & Wisdom. It just wasn’t me and yet I found my
inner self amongst the many people I met who like me
were searching for a better life for themselves & their
family. My wife of 25 years Roslyn, who has been my best
friend and the mother of my 3 sons finally embraced the
MLM industry when she saw our fortunes increase
significantly with the Synergy opportunity. Finally
after 5 years in MLM my best friend became my business
partner once again.
I
have found a greater challenge with Synergy, a greater
reward and a greater satisfaction, I had not encountered
before. Perhaps, I might have stepped on some toes, but
far greater I have made much more friends & business
partners than I had ever dared dreamed before. For
herein I am able to do all things through Christ who
strengthens me. My parting words to you my friend; We
have a chance as human beings to participate in the
miracle process – Go change someone’s life with Synergy
Worldwide. For we are participants of Life & not
spectators, we were called to also lead, not just
follow. Do this & your life will increase bountifully.
